It's changing, it's changing and getting married . These are the headlines of the news from Slovakia.

As the first is the change in Grassland. The old singer and guitaris is again joining them.

The next change / even not the latest one / is that Henrich Novak is back in Fragment and prepare with them the journey to USA

And Svato Kotas besides other bands plays in Pezinok's Arion.

Well, and the wedding. Palo - Bela - Tomasovic from Grassland let us know he is preparing to get marry. And now I don't know - is it right to welcome him among the married men or to give him Good bye?

Palo Tomasovic plans to organize bluegrass workshop in Zvolen, because Robin's workshop in Kosice is not ready this year. It should be at the beginning of September and as the lectors will be some good musicians from surround and everything others is still open. But in Zvonky you will find the hottest infos.

There were added some new contacts and links. In short time you will find here even the profils of Wrkoc and Grassland. As soon as they will send me the documents.

Ivo Drbohlav wrote that, Caslav's festival Bluegrass Vodranty (July 4-5) is moved to town Kank, near Kutna Hora. If you want to go there, use train Kutna Hora - Kolin, or car.

I want to draw your attention to the Bluegrass festival in Horna poruba on June 26.

If you don't know , the Austrian band Nugget has its homepage at http://www.nugget.at/nugget. It's really nice with history and the present time of the band.

If you are interested in Blue Highway, go to their page on http://oldhomepage.com/bluehighway/, where you can buy special CD "Troubles Up and Down the Road.". The speciality is the undersigning of all members of the band. This action is valid to June 23.

Something for the fiddlers June 20-26 and July 1-7 takes part "The Mark O'Connor Fiddle Camp". Infos and reservations are at

In these days is in Barneveid (Holland) beginning The 2nd European World of Bluegrass" (EWOB). Well probably your band cannot play there this year already, but the contact for the next year is

NBMA,
Dennis Schut, Busken Huetstraat 25,
2394 TD Hazerwoude-Rijndiijk, Nederland

Something more you will find at Dutch bluegrass association http://callisto.worldonline.nl/~nbma/index.html

And something to listen:
For experts - "Bluegrass' 99" - Pinecastle - and again well known names as Scott Vestal - banjo, Jeff Autry - guitar; Wayne Benson - mandoline,  Rickie Simpkins - fiddle, Rob Ickes - dobro, Mike Anglin - bass and songs as Monroe's Hornpipe, Lonesome Road Blues, Sugar Foot Rag, Chesterfield, Little Beggar Man (ala Red Haired Boy), Spagnum Pete, Amazing Grace, Little Darlin' Pal Of  Mine, Boys Of Blue Hill, Kennesaw a Foggy Mountain Breakdown. ($ 12.95)

If you like something more traditional I recommend from Pinecastle "Hyden" -  Osborne Brothers - it is the first album from the chronological anthology "Osborne Brothers from Hyden to the Ryman". Or even from Pinecastle "The Old Dominion Masters" - Jim & Jesse - as well from the serie anthology Old Dominion Records. You will find here the song as Paradise, Please Be My Love, Mountain Rosalie, Border Ride, El Comenchero, Cotton Mill Man, Air Mail Special, Freight  Train, I Wish You Knew; Old Slew Foot, Somewhere My Love, Little White Church, Wings Of A Dove, Over In Gloryland, Amazing Grace, Family Bible, Rocky Top, Ashes Of Love, Knoxville Girl, Mansion On The Hill, Live And Let Live.

And one joke: When will here take part the records of slovak bands?

And here are the new Zvonky at the new domain. So far as the experiment. If you have some comments to the design or other thing mail them here mailAs well if you find some links they don't work write it to us. At the new domain are new things and a lot of thing are organized on other base. There is e.g. the part Articles - forum where you can take part. Don't let us do all the work. It is not honored but you can say anything you want . That's why are there even the old articles from old Zvonky. You can there even directly add the links to your sites, terms of concerts, etc. It is for the people they don't know how to use mail - are there some? The searching does not work yet but it will. I think about the editing of the Zvonky as it was before - paper. They should be edited only sometimes, and preferred should be registered people. There should be summary of the internet version, but some more things. Maybe some CD's. It's up to your interest.

BTW the articles, terms and voting to Award will be re-added intermediately. The news will be added max. 2 times in he month. Sometimes we have even to work, not only browse the internet. But it is not about you - you can browse internet as well as until present time.

And now the news:

In the calendary were added some concerts. I want to draw the attention to Strunobranie. These are the right terms.

The infos will give you the regional centers or Dagmar Očenášová SNOC Bratislava phone: 07-59214102

One sad new for everybody they were looking forward to Bluegrass workshop in Kosice. It will not be organized because of the costs of the accommodation, food, … If you want to be a sponsor of the workshop, please read one of the older articles -Where you are , sponsors?

In Pezinok took part the Bluegrass Session and according to voices it was "super". I have information , that the tradition is going to be set up , even bigger than today and i can be a reason for good bluegrass festival. The people they do it are 29 strings.

The page of Slowgrass is changed and finally you will find there more things. You will not find there the articles from Slovgrass but the titles of the old editions and some links.

BG Time changed the page and even the configuration. Brano Martinka moved to 29 strings and BG Time now plays in the configuration Dušan Bachratý - mandolin, vocal, Tomáš Peško - banjo, vocal ,  Andrea Zaťková - guitar, vocall, Roman Sýkora - contrabas

29 strings changed in short time not only the members ( besides Brano Martinka, who played with them even before) , but added to their hopepage their own music - MP3.

29 strings recorded the CD - in short time you'll find the notice here.

Bratislava's Veget Band finally stopped the playing in the genre of bluegrass. Whether the new configuration will be built nobody knows.

Even Stano Valach from Trencin's Tien is active and gives to Zvonky his original tabs and midi files of the songs of his band.

IF you know the name "Cencul" (one of the first mandolinist in Slovakia )- from him I got some midi files. He wrote in mail , he is a bit older, greyer and maybe more clever.

Martin Prosek, the webmaster of czech bluegrass page sent me the mail. He has not got that much time for the page as before, so he does it only "by the way". But in Czech Republic is no one more, who could do it. In short time there should be added some links to slovak sites.

John Cowan previous bass-guitarist from NGR want to record the new CD with his new John Cowan Band in configuration of John Cowan - singing, bass; Jim Hurst - vocals, guitar; Larry Atamanuik - drumms a Scott Vestall - vocal, banjo. About the CD you will find more at http://www.johncowan.com

If you are interested in Seldom Scene go at http://www.seldomscene.com.

April 6. 1999

29 strings already have new basist. His name is Pavol Da\o. Except contrabas he plays even the mandoline and guitar.

Then I want to thank to Folk and Country magazine, where I finally found the terms of Strunobranie 99. SNOC Bratislava would probably never give it to me, despite their promises. Thanks to Dasenka. I can only think about the way how to get know about the terms of Stupavsky sirak and other events.

In Sumperk has been set up new BG formation - BLUE DOGS. The members are partly from the band Modra pulnoc and partly from Happy To Meet. And already at the start they got hard job: On 3/12/99 they started the Sumperk's concert of Peter Rowan and Druha trava.

The bluegrass upraise of the year 1997, the band Sunny Side, after the racket start and recording CD has lost the fuel, because of the leaving of the singer Peter Sam Hruby. Now, after long time looking for new one, they have found one singer and guitarist Pavel Handlik from the Mlada Boleslav's band Lojzici.

There is the 13. edition of Slowgrass in the world, where you can find a lot of interesting . The content and the magazine you can find at the www of Slovgrass.

One small note: I got the mail, where the writer tells that Zvonky are Bratislava's. I remind, that you won't find here nothing about the events in your town, because you didn't send me anything. That's not our fault that the most active bands are 29 strings and Tien / BTW no one of them are not from Bratislava /. Send me the term of your concert, festival, news and I promise you'll find them here and everybody will be able to know about your event. BTW this site is visited by people form whole Slovakia, Czech Republic, but even the foreign countries. It up to you.

Because we plan the the change of the domain, we plan even the new design. Pre-set version you can find here. . If you want to comment the site, design, … send me mail. It is only pre-set version and that's why some parts are still no working.

I again remind to everybody who didn't register yet to the Zvonky club - do it as soon as possible. So far you'll have the advantage to personally get the new infos, news, … and later at the new domain maybe something more.

If you didn't in the list find yourself and you want to add your web site, your mail or the mail of your band, club, festival do it as soon as possible, the best before the changing of our domain.

Tha same thing is, if you didn't in the list find the link to your business with the musical instruments, firm, CD, or anything in the relation with bluegrass do it as soon as possible. So far is it free. The best advertising for you is on the page, which is visited by potential customers in average 5-10 times daily and not only from Slovakia. It is not that much than on the erotic pages, but with the regard on minor genre of music is it quite good.

And now some news I found.
